Kala Cotton is one of India's rarest and most sustainable handloom traditions. Grown without irrigation in the black-soil fields of Kutch, Gujarat, this indigenous cotton variety is entirely rain-fed — nourished only by monsoon rains and the mineral-rich earth beneath it. It is then hand-spun and handwoven by tribal artisans using techniques passed down through generations.

At Chand Chakori, our Kala Cotton fabrics are sourced directly from weaver communities in Kutch — coarse yet breathable, naturally warm in winter and cool in summer, and only more beautiful with every wash. No synthetic inputs, no irrigation, no shortcuts.
